President
The club president acts as the chief executive and figurehead, responsible for setting club goals, presiding over meetings, and leading the board and committees. Key duties include delegating tasks to committee chairs, ensuring budgetary compliance, facilitating member engagement, and acting as the primary representative to outside organizations.
Vice President
A club vice president (VP) acts as the primary assistant to the president, serves as a key leader in strategic planning, and oversees committee operations to ensure club success. Key responsibilities include leading meetings in the president’s absence, mentoring new members, overseeing committee chairs, and managing internal communication.
Treasurer
A club treasurer acts as the chief financial officer, responsible for managing the club's money, maintaining accurate financial records, preparing budgets, and reporting on financial status. They collect dues, pay authorized expenses, reconcile bank statements, and ensure financial transparency for members, often using spreadsheets or accounting software.
Secretary
A club Secretary is the chief administrative officer, managing communication, maintaining official records, and facilitating meetings to ensure smooth operations. Key duties include taking accurate meeting minutes, managing correspondence, maintaining membership databases, handling compliance with the constitution, and acting as the primary point of contact.
Member at Large
A club member-at-large serves as a flexible, voting member of the board, providing general support, representing the wider membership, and assisting with special projects or committees as needed. They act as a vital bridge between the leadership and general members, often covering duties assigned by the chairperson rather than holding one specific portfolio.
Ambassador
The Ambassador Committee is dedicated to welcoming new members and helping them feel at home in our club. Ambassadors, when needed, pair up with newcomers to guide them through club play and other activities, introduce them to other members and generally help them integrate into club life. In addition, ambassadors represent the Stone Creek tennis club at community events such as sports expos and fall expos.
Social
The Social Committee works closely with the Board to plan and coordinate a variety of social events for our tennis club. Committee members take the lead in organizing details such as potlucks, cookouts, and catered gatherings. They also handle logistics like ice, supplies and festive decorations for holiday socials. In addition, the committee collaborates with the Inter-Community Play Committee whenever our club hosts matches, helping to ensure events run smoothly and are enjoyable for everyone.
Court Maintenance
The Court Maintenance Committee helps keep our tennis facilities in top condition and promptly reports any maintenance concerns to the Board. Responsibilities include periodic inspections of court surfaces, windscreens, and nets; removing wind-blown debris like pine needles; and emptying court trash cans. Committee members also roll up windscreens and remove bench canopies in late July or early August as the risk of high-wind storms increases. Additional committee members are Jeff Oparka, David Horetsky, Bonnie Keating, Julie Baldwin.
Intercommunity Play / Tournaments
The Inter-Community Play Committee organizes and coordinates matches with tennis clubs in neighboring Ocala communities, both home and away. Responsibilities include contacting other clubs, arranging match schedules, handling logistics, and fostering friendly competition that helps our members enjoy new challenges and build connections. Additional committee members are Kelly Thompson and Bill Freeman.

The Coman Tiebreak procedure is identical to the regular tiebreak procedure except that the players change ends after the first point and then after every four points until the conclusion of a tiebreak. The Coman Tiebreak procedure is used for all tiebreaks played during a match. Set Tie Break: First to win 7 points by 2 points wins “Game “and “Set” 3rd set Match Tie Break: First to win 10 points by 2, wins match. The player whose turn it is to serve shall serve the first point from the deuce court. After the first point, the players shall change ends and the following two points shall be served by the opponent(s) (in doubles, the player of the opposing team due to serve next) starting from the add court. After this, each player/team shall serve alternately for two consecutive points (starting from the ad court); changing ends after every four points, until the completion of the tie break game. Switch ends after points 1,5,9,13, 17...…. and at the conclusion. SUMMARY • Switch sides after 1st point to the deuce court • Then switch sides every 4 points thereafter • Each player serves on the side they serve from during the set PRINCIPLE ADVANTAGES Fairness – By changing ends more frequently, the effects of the elements (sun, wind, differences in court surfaces etc.) are distributed more evenly between the two opponents as opposed to playing six consecutive points before changing ends. In doubles, the server will always serve from the same end of the court as they did throughout the set...........................Watch this funny video. ;-)
